About Us

Designer Society of America is an organization developed by a professional interior designer who recognized a void in the industry in terms of resources for fellow professional designers and trade partners. DSA is a society for and about interior designers. Our goal is to be your resource, and we are always here to assist you – 24/7. Have a design dilemma? Just want a second opinion on a decision? We want to offer that service and assistance to you.

Through many years of experience, as well as networking with other professionals, studying the industry and markets, education, outreach and industry advocacy, DSA has established itself as a major player in the interior design world, in contact with over 32,000 designers, showrooms and other industry members. Founded in 1999, DSA strives to give a voice to individuals in the industry. You won’t find that service with membership in other major societies in our industry.

DSA is open to residential interior designers, space planners, kitchen and bath designers, re-designers and the trade companies that serve them. We provide a community for those already in the field, offering networking opportunities, consultations and mini Websites for displaying your work and contact information. In addition, DSA offers a mentorship program for new designers and as well as students studying the art at universities, colleges and technical schools.

For those who are not certified in residential interior design, we offer a quality certification program that you can complete at your own pace, in the comfort of your home, with a qualified mentor available by phone or email to assist you. Based on the John Pile textbook used in most accredited four-year college programs, our curriculum covers all aspects of residential interior design. We start with the basic fundamentals of space planning and design and take students through a detailed study program on materials, textiles, color, styles and furnishings, lighting, accents and accessories. The course carries students all the way through the practical aspects of project management.

Our members enjoy annual meetings and award ceremonies highlighting their achievements and talents in the industry. Monthly newsletters keep everyone up to date on the latest industry news and our website serves as a vast resource for members, as well as a credible source for clients in search of a professional designer.

A member-based organization, DSA provides designers with numerous opportunities to supplement income by participating in additional certification courses, study programs and continuing education courses. In addition, we offer information on trade products, advertising opportunities for vendors, a trade magazine and annual trade shows.
